Using the Love Languages Effectively

7/1/2016

Last week we talked about what the Five Love Languages are, but now we’re going to be talking about how to use them effectively. It can be tricky when you don’t know the love language of your partner, or if you don’t know how to communicate using a specific love language. But don’t worry, that’s why we’re here. Ready to learn how to use the love languages effectively? Let’s do it!

Find a strong foundation of communication.
Knowing which of the five love languages you communicate with is the key to a strong foundation of expressing love. You should also know which love language you enjoy receiving the most as well; sometimes they are not the same. For example, you may enjoy giving gifts, but you feel more loved when your partner spends quality time with you. This may seem complex, but once you identify and understand where you and your partner stand, you can exercise your love languages efficiently. This may sound a bit clinical, but at the end of the day, don’t you want your partner to feel how much you love them? Utilizing the proper love language can make a big difference to the romantic connection between two people, so make sure to use them wisely.

Mix it up and pay attention.
One of the key elements in igniting and then maintaining a strong relationship is attention, and this isn’t just for those of you who need quality time. As you interact with your partner, you should be paying attention to how they receive your affections. We all may have one primary love language, but that doesn’t mean you should abandon all the others! Mix up the way you use your love languages to keep them fresh, while keeping in mind how you can cater your affections to your partner’s needs.

Upcoming Events
Put your love language to work at one of our upcoming events! On July 23, we will be hosting our speed dating event! The event will be held at Life Bride and tickets must be purchased in advance, so get them while you can! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Baltimore Humane Society and Life Bridge Health and Fitness. July 21 and August 18 will be “Yappy Hour”, where singles and their pets can meet and mingle. Then, be sure to catch us at the Hot August Music Festival on August 20! Check out our events page for more details.
